Product Manager 12 V alternator

The section Power Supply within the unit Electrics/Electronics & E-propulsion is responsible for generation, storage and to provide electrical energy to the car. It is a section with three sub-groups, Analysis & Verification, System and Components. The group Power Supply Components is responsible for developing HW solutions and Software functionality for low voltage (12-60V) power supply components. The recent years with strong focus on CO2-reduction has led to an increase of features within the sections responsibility, mainly focusing on mild hybrid and fuel efficient systems up to 60V. The section need to develop high performing- and energy efficient power supply components, balancing performance with cost and weight. The focus is to support further development of the Stop/Start functionality and to develop 12&48V-energy recovery components (mild hybrids), both incorporating Li-ion battery technology, electric propulsion, power electronics and system/SW development.

We are now looking for a new Product Manager to support this development within the field of 12V alternator technology. As a Product Manager for 12V alternators you will be responsible for development, requirement management and to secure project delivery of 12V alternators. You will also lead technical discussions with our suppliers and follow up warranty data on the field. Your technical competence, as well as your ability to manage projects, should be strong and you should be able to make your own decisions and draw technical conclusions.

Main responsibilities

• Responsible for 12V alternators from advanced engineering to warranty data follow up
• Liaison with complete vehicle attribute leaders and cooperation with e.g. responsible function developers at powertrain department to obtain a well-balanced performance between drivability and electric performance
• Verify the solution and recommend changes of the design regarding technology, quality, service, environment, market adaptation and rationalization
• Develop solutions cross functional to given specification, Time- Technical Contract (TTC), Design prerequisites and VCC-standard
• Develop of Technical regulations (TR), Design Prerequisites (DPR) and other primary documents
• Cooperation with responsible purchaser to establish supplier plan
• Establish new and maintain today's supplier contacts
• Establish design guidelines

Required qualifications

• B.Sc. or higher within Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics or equivalent theoretical level
• Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
• Driver's licence (B)
• Experience from working in the field of component development and requirement handling is meritorious
• Knowledge of Volvo Cars processes and systems is meritorious
