For our Headquarters in Bad Homburg (Frankfurt area) we are searching for a:

Product Engineer (m/f) 

Responsibilities

• Plans engineering activities and manage APQP requirements for product engineering
• Completes and documents engineering disciplines per AAM’s product development process, such as - design reviews
• design tolerance dimensional stack analysis
• DFMEA
• change control documentation
• agree / disagree documentation
• Electronic project books
• open issues / action plans to address performance concerns

• Creates and releases Bills of Materials
• Creates and releases prototype and production drawings
• Perform engineering calculations manually or with analytical tools
• Initiates and interprets Finite Element Analysis (FEA) results
• Estimates and tracks engineering development costs
• Develop and maintain analytical and test product validation plans (DVP&R)
• Completes design proposals, concepts, and mark-up drawings in response to customer requests
• Develops, validates, and implements cost reduction initiatives and proposals
• Monitors and supports problem solving, action plans and responses to customer satisfaction, PPM defects, and warranty issues
• Completes benchmark activities as required to support ongoing process and product improvement activities Collaborates with the Purchasing function and participates in supplier visits, selection, and capabilities assessment.
• Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure manufacturing and assembly capabilities are met. Completes drawing reviews and reaches consensus on requirements and specifications.
• Collaborates with the Quality function to prevent quality issues as well as supporting resolution of quality and warranty issues
• Collaborates with the Product Engineering Technical Center and supports prototype and testing activities
• Forges and maintains relationships with Corporate headquarters personnel and technical specialists

Qualifications

Education

• Minimum Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical, depending on focus of position)

Experience

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or Product Engineering position
• Work experience in the automotive industry and driveline background required
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) skills highly desired
• Self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills
• Confident, reliable and competent representation on all levels; good organizational skills
• Skills in working with international teams
• English written / verbal communication skills required
• German written / verbal communication skills preferred
• Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Project, Outlook etc.) required
• CAD system knowledge (PRO-E, CATIA V5, UG, ETC…) preferred
• Must enjoy working with others
• Willingness to travel, average 20% of time expected, including international travel
