Bleaching Chemicals is one of three global sub business units within AkzoNobel Pulp and Performance Chemicals. We are the world's largest manufacturer of sodium chlorate and one of the largest producers of hydrogen peroxide. We supply essential chemicals to the global pulp industry and other selected industries from 24 locations worldwide. Our head office is located in Marietta, Georgia, USA and we employ 950 people.

Our Process RD&I department in Bohus has an immediate opening for the following role as Process Chemistry Engineer with focus on our Hydrogen Peroxide process.

The Process RD&I department is part of the global sBU Bleaching Chemicals and works closely with Operations and Global Technology. The Process RD&I departments role is to identify sustainable solutions, develop existing processes and ensure successful implementation of projects. A significant role is also to support the plants in their strive for operational excellence and if needed trouble shooting.

The main tasks and responsibilities are:

Specific
• To develop our bleaching chemical processes with focus on the hydrogen peroxide.
• Be the focal point for the organic process chemistry in the field of hydrogen peroxide working solution chemistry.
• Support production, Engineering and our sales department in the daily work or in specific projects.
General
• Independently initiate, run and finalize activities and sub-projects according to approved objectives independently evaluate report and present own as well as others? results, both internally and externally.
• Contribute to the development of new process, products and applications.
• Ensure that appropriate methods and equipment are used for the experiments and if necessary be able to develop new methods and adapt equipment for specific task.
• Secure that lab equipment is used, maintained and calibrated in a correct way.
• Supervise trainees and new employees within the own field of work.
• Plan and carry out own competence development in consultation with the manager

Job requirements / Candidate profile

• Master of Science in chemistry/chemical engineering or corresponding education with 3-4 years of relevant job experience.
• Result oriented, good ability to cooperate
• Documented communication skills in writing reports and presenting results.
• Fluent in English.
• Experience from organic process chemistry
To succeed in this position you enjoy understanding the complexity of organic chemistry in a continuous process. You also understand how to relate the fundamentals to full scale operation. You are a god communicator, both in writing and verbally, being a good team worker is also very important since you will be working in several different projects. As a person you are methodical, curious, responsible, result oriented and quality-driven.
