Our department, Diagnostic & Embedded Systems, is a function within Global Bus Technology at Volvo Buses responsible for developing offboard diagnostic solutions and vehicle software deployment solutions for aftermarket. We have the global responsibility for our technical areas, also covering quality and maintenance of our systems and tools. In close cooperation with our colleagues, we develop the complete aftermarket support for our products. Our office is in Arendal, Gothenburg, with a fantastic view of the Gothenburg archipelago.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Your main focus of the Principal Diagnostic Engineer is to drive, maintain and own the technical area Offboard Diagnostics. You will be creating and maintaining the technical roadmap for the area, as well as be the main interface towards other stakeholders within Global Bus Technology. You will also act as the expert for the off-board diagnostic area and lead investigations, develop strategies and support implementation around improved diagnostic solutions, and improved ways of working within the technical area. Based on input from market, product planning and in close collaboration with product development, you build the diagnostics strategies and develop the roadmaps for the area.
Together with our stakeholders, you also drive strategic diagnostic improvements within Volvo Buses by participating and initiating pre-studies, strategy work, project investigations. Advanced engineering project within the area is also part of your responsibility.
We cover all products within Volvo Buses globally, and you will gain a broad foundation in product and system knowledge, ranging from legacy buses and systems to the buses of the future. We work cross-functionally with colleagues in other departments, in other companies within the Volvo group and on other sites. You will have the opportunity to grow a broad network as well as develop your technical competencies and knowledge about the products in the team and the products that Volvo Buses develops.

THIS PROBABLY DEFINES YOU
BSc or MSc degree in mechatronics/electrical engineering or equivalent
Overall automotive diagnostic knowledge
Strong Volvo group diagnostic strategy knowledge
Strong Lean Leadership skills
Good Networking skills
Comfortable to work both independently and in teams
Advanced knowledge for Volvo off-board diagnostics area
Advanced Volvo bus system and electrical architecture knowledge
Good competitor knowledge around the diagnostic area
