The position is placed in the ecosystem ecology group at the strong research environment Man Technology and Environment (MTM), at the School of Science and Technology.

Duties and responsibilities
The appointment as a postdoctoral researcher is intended to enable persons who have recently been awarded their doctoral degree, to consolidate and develop their research skills.

The researcher is going to study polluted soils and use stable isotope and other methods to evaluate their applicability for assessing the ecological status of such soils.

Eligibility
Eligible for appointment as a postdoctoral researcher are applicants having been awarded a doctoral degree in biology, forest science, agriculture, environmental science or a closely related subject. The degree is to have been awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline. If special grounds exist, a person who has been awarded their doctoral degree prior to that should also be considered. Such grounds comprise leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical practice, positions of trust in a trade union or other similar circumstances.

Assessment criteria
Documented experience in the form of scientific publications in the fields of ecosystems ecology, ecotoxicology, polluted soils (in particular metal polluted), plant ecophysiology, plant-microbe-interactions, plant-soil-interactions, soil animals, soil microbiology, stable isotope methods and molecular methods are all considered as merits in the evaluation. Proficiency in written and spoken English is a requirement.

General assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills and an ability to cooperate, as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the duties well.

Particular attention is to be paid to the applicant's prospects of contributing to the future development of both research and education. Importance is also attached to a demonstrated ability and ambition to embark on a career within academia.
