Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors and database administrators as well as administrative personnel, in total some 250 staff. The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at ki.se/meb

Division
The eating disorders research group is a new entity at MEB and has been established under the auspices of the Swedish Research Council to create the Center for Eating Disorders Innovation (CEDI) at Karolinska Institutet.

Our interdisciplinary work spans clinical, epidemiologic, public health, and basic science and aims to enhance knowledge about the causes, treatments, and prevention of eating disorders.

Duties
This research project aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of genetic and environmental factors that contribute to risk, development, maintenance, and recovery from eating disorders via the study of the human microbiome using several research designs. Individuals eligible to be employed as a postdoctoral researcher should have completed their PhD studies within the last seven years. Individuals who graduated earlier could be considered under special circumstances.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a PhD in nutrition, psychology, or related disciplines. Experience working with and doing research with individuals with eating disorders is essential. Applicants should demonstrate experience coordinating clinical research studies in both patients with eating disorders and healthy controls and experience in projects investigating the intestinal microbiota. Experience collecting and processing stool samples, with related wet lab work (e.g., bacterial DNA extraction, PCR), and with biostatistical methods for analyzing microbial data is an asset. Applicants must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, and experience in an interdisciplinary and/or translational research environment. Fluency in English necessary.

A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.

Application process
An employment application must contain the following documents in English or Swedish:

• A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work
• A complete list of publications
• A summary of current work (no more than one page)
• Verifications for crediting of illness, military service, work for labour unions or student organisations, parental leave or similar circumstances
• Verification from the thesis defence committee or the equivalent (only if the thesis defence is scheduled within three months after the application deadline)
The application is to be submitted through the MyNetwork recruitment system.
