The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is among the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe with special focus on increasing our knowledge of the aetiology of different diseases. Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors and database administrators as well as administrative personnel, in total some 250 staff. Division
The ACCES research group is led by Professor Pär Sparén and focuses on research for prevention of HPV related disease (cervical cancer and other HPV related diseases) and death from such disease.

HPV vaccination and cervical screening are obvious preventive efforts under study as is adverse effects of these interventions and the epidemiology of HPV related disease.

Duties
The holder of this position will lead and conduct epidemiological research for the prevention of HPV related disease and death from disease, as well as study adverse effects of interventions and the epidemiology of HPV related disease. The research will utilize advanced bio-statistical methods to analyze data from large nationwide registries, coupled with clinical and micro-biological data. To compile and write up the research results for publication in scientific journals is also a key responsibility.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
We are looking for an ambitious individual who can work independently and take initiatives, but who also has good teamwork spirit and is able to work within a group. You must have a PhD in epidemiology and have experience from working with nationwide disease and prevention registers, as well as with clinical and microbiological data. You need to have a good knowledge of advanced bio-statistical methods and a deep knowledge of programming and structuring of large databases with powerful tools, like SQL or SAS. A requirement is also documented experience of working with statistical analysis software like SAS, Stata and R. Experience within the field of cervical screening and HPV vaccination is an obvious advantage.

5.Verification from the thesis defence committee or the equivalent (only if the thesis defence is scheduled within three months after the application deadline)

The time of the position is 1,5 + 2 years. The recruitment of the position is dependent on the award of research grants.
