The successful candidate will work in a project group aimed at discovering and characterizing new drug compounds. The research is conducted within the framework of an academic/industrial collaboration, and the candidate will be expected to work in this interface.
Research will be centred around novel potent inhibitors of microsomal prostaglandin E synthase , which constitutes a target for treatment of inflammation. The work involves exploring biological effects of these inhibitors using various experimental models of inflammation and measurements of eicosanoids and other molecules that act as effector molecules during inflammation. Depending on the experience of the candidate, the work may focus on either in vivo models or basal characterizations on cellular levels. One major goal is that the research should teach us more about the role of prostaglandin E2 in inflammation and guide in the selection of clinical markers for phase 2 trials.
This position is being partly financed by a grant from VINNOVA. Actar is responsible for administration of the employment.
Qualifications:
Applications are welcome from talented scientists with experience in cell biology, pharmacology, medicine or related field. Experience in analytic methods is an advantage. The candidate should hold a PhD not older than 2 years.
