Hereby advertises a position as
Postdoctor in Thin Film Physics
formally based at the department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM).
Duties
The project for which we are now looking for new staff concerns fundamental research related to thin film synthesis and characterization of hard coatings, primarily metal borides. The post doc will perform materials synthesis through magnetron sputtering and high-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS), and characterize the thin films with respect to structure and composition (XRD, SEM, ERDA etc.) and properties (film hardness, adhesion, stress etc.). Plasma characterization will be integrated into the project.
The post doc will be part of an international team (> 20 people) with related activities on metal borides including (in selection) theory and modeling, plasma process development, and high resolution microscopy and synchrotron analysis.
A Postdoctor will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
Qualifications
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
Documented experience from activities mentioned under Duties as well as skills in writing/presentation will be considered a merit in the evaluation of applicants.
Appointment time
Two years.

By agreement.
