Postdoctor in Nucleic acid probes and nanomaterials
formally based at department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM)
Duties
• You will be involved in the evaluation of nucleic acids (oligonucleotides) to create novel probes in combination with nanomaterials.
• Actively participate in screening of specific nucleases as biomarkers for cancer (ChemComm, 2016, 52, 12346) and infectious diseases (Nat. Med. 2014, 20, 301) using oligonucleotide probe libraries.
• Identify and optimize MRI-activatable probes using oligonucleotides as responsive molecules in combination with MRI contrast agents such as Gadolunium and iron oxide nanoparticles.
A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
Qualifications
• PhD in Biology, biotechnology, biophysics, chemistry or related field.
• Hands-on experience biological systems, nucleic acid chemistry, in MRI technology/ MRI contrast agents or nanoparticle synthesis and functionalization.
• Experience in routine biochemical techniques, practical laboratory routines and animal experience are desirable. Must be willing to work with human biological samples, handling animals (mice) and animal tissues.
• Strong communication skills in English.
The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
Appointment time
Two years.
Starting date
By February 1st of 2018 or by agreement.
Salary
The University applies individual salary scales adapted to the experience of the employee and to the labour market.
