Do you want to help society to develop cheap and sustainable sodium ion batteries? Are you looking for a position where you can develop your experience and knowledge within storage materials and batteries and at the same time broaden your network within the academia and industry? Then this might be your chance! We offer an exciting opportunity, a fully funded position, excellent working conditions and access to world-class facilities and infrastructure.

Project description
The sodium ion battery (SIB) is considered a promising alternative battery beyond lithium ion batteries. However, one big problem which hinders the practical/industrial application of SIBs is the lack of high-performance anode materials. 2 dimensional (2D) materials have been considered and demonstrated fundamentally as a promising material for SIBs.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as a postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position also includes supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent (but no teaching). Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with industrial partners. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing in English.

Qualifications
To be qualified for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Material Science or a relevant field, generally awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline. You should be fluent in English, have good collaborative skills and ability to communicate your results in writing and presentations. You are expected to stay motivated and efficient despite setbacks and disappointments while continuing to work until satisified results have been achieved.

Merits:

Experience in 2D materials and battery related project.
Skills in fabrication of coin cells and pouch cells.
Good publication records in the relevant research area.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.
