Postdoc in Tumor Biology
Area of responsibilities/description of the work
The successful candidate will work within a larger project aiming for the discovery and characterization of pathological mechanisms in childhood cancers (neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma). The candidate will primarily focus on methods related to cell biology and biochemistry.
One project includes finding the effect of pro-apoptotic recombinant proteins on mitochondrial permeability and release of proteins/peptides. Another project aims for mapping the intra cellular effects of an anti-cancer agent. A third project means global quantitative proteomics of clinically distinct tumours and correlation of protein levels with clinical parameters and genetic subgroups. Sample preparations include subcellular fractionation by ultra-centrifugation and further protein fractionation. Proteins and peptides are identified by mass spectrometry using iTRAQ and high resolution nano-LC-MS. Emphasis is then put on post MS analysis, i.e. the cell biology required for characterization of the function and relevance of candidate proteins. Such validation includes siRNA, mammalian expression constructs, immunoprecipitation, western blot and immunohistochemistry.
The time period for the employment is two years.
