Main duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will work together with skilled synthetic and computational chemists, utilizing the latest learnings about mechanisms of organic C-H functionalizations to develop a predictive model for reaction selectivity. The ultimate goal is to develop a tool that can be an aid to medicinal chemists planning late stage decorations of a molecular scaffold, to more fully explore the structure-activity relationship (SAR) of a class of drug candidates.
Essential requirements:
PhD in computational chemistry or
PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with significant computational experience or
PhD in computer science with background in chemistry
Desirable skills:
Awareness of recent literature and developments in the field of Late Stage Functionalization
Programming experience
Visualization of 3D molecular structures
Conversant with chemical reaction mechanisms
Have developed and/or utilized multivariate models
Collaborative, team player
Able to plan, prioritise and perform own project and actively collaborate within the LSF-team and computational chemistry community at AZ
