Post-doc position (2 years) in High-pressure, Catalytic Valorization of Biofractions (CaVaBio) to future fuels and chemicals with the focus towards sustainable development in technical chemistry
Technical chemistry (TC) is one of the new laboratories within the Department of Chemistry. Technical chemistry carries out research within the areas of sustainable chemical technology, reaction kinetics, catalysis (especially heterogeneous metal and enzymatic catalysis), modeling of chemical reactors, biorefinery (particularly forest biorefinery) and biotechnology for process. We are part of the new chemistry platform at the Umeå University and can provide education in industrial reactors, reaction kinetics, biotechnology, green chemistry and various aspects around sustainable development for the students.
To this new group we now search a post doctoral researcher with the focus on future, bio-based fuels and chemicals as well as on the development of the processes within the biorefineries.
Knowledge and understanding of chemical engineering sciences, chemistry as well as know-how in the operation and laboratory practices of high pressure equipment (autoclaves etc.) and corrosive substances is a prerequisite. Experience with HPLC, GC-MS, NMR and other chemical and physical analysis and characterization methods is desired.
For successful candidates to the post-doc position we demand documented capabilities in autonomous scientific research work and skills in writing scientific publications and reports in English. In addition, the post-doc researcher is expected to participate in other current research projects within the research group as well as willingness to develop research funding possibilities. Very good command of English language, both written and spoken, is required.
The post-doc position is based on a fellowship for a period of two (2) years. The project is expected to contribute significantly to the development of novel, green materials, NextGen fuels as well as sustainable chemicals for the future chemical industry that move towards the greener industrial processes of tomorrow.
The application should include (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) copies of examination certificates, (3) names and contacts of 1-3 references and (4) a cover letter. The cover letter should contain a short description
of your research interests and a motivation to why you are interested in this particular position. The applicant for the position should posses a doctoral degree (Dr.Sc. or equivalent) within chemical engineering, chemical technology, chemistry or equivalent and have a deep understanding within the fields of heterogeneous catalysis and kinetics, as well as expertise and practical experience in the synthesis of heterogeneous, catalytically active materials.
