The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University, and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. Our research spans a broad field within experimental preclinical research, near-patient clinical research and health sciences research. The holder of this position will mainly work on a research project pertaining to the design and use of synthetic polymers for functional lung tissue regeneration, using a combination of ex vivo approaches.
The main work responsibilities involve designing and conducting research pertaining to the project and includes obtaining, analysing and managing data acquired for the project. Further, the holder of this position will be responsible for writing of high quality, academic papers to be submitted to international journals. The majority of this work should be done independently and in collaboration with both internal and external members of the team. The position also entails mentoring of doctoral and masters students.
Qualifications:
Necessary qualifications:
• PhD (or equivalent) in bioengineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, membrane science and technology or biotechnology from no more than three years ago
• Ability to carry out independent and high-quality research as documented through the thesis and peer-reviewed publications
• Experience with data handling and analysis, including statistics
• Good written and verbal Communication skills, including proficiency in English
• Experience in mentoring and/or supervision
In addition to the above qualifications, the desired qualifications are as follows:
• Background in bioinspired membranes
• Experience with polymer synthesis techniques, including polycondensation
• Experience with assessing gas exchange, ion exchange and diffusion across synthetic or natural membranes
• Experience with optimizing membranes for selective exchange
The research project is interdisciplinary, therefore candidates with a broad competence profile spanning these different areas of special interest.
Salary is set according to agreement.
