The Department of Forest Biomaterials and Technology (SBT) forms part of the Faculty of Forest Sciences at SLU, and has about 50 employees. The department carries out high quality research and education at an international level and collaborates with society and industry to develop a biobased economy where forest biomaterials are the core resource. The department is responsible for a large part of the faculty's undergraduate and graduate education, in for example forest operations, ergonomics and wood supply. Courses and MSc and PhD thesis projects are conducted in close cooperation with forest industries.



Subject description and duties: The employment as a postdoc at the department aims to give the applicant an opportunity to consolidate and develop their scientific skills. The main task of the employment is to conduct work science research within the subject area of forest technology. The position requires a wide interest within the discipline of work science, including human-machine interaction, ergonomics and safety. The postdoc is also expected to actively participate in national and international projects at the department, to develop their network within the area and actively seek research funding. The position may include up to 20% teaching, teaching administration and supervision and examination at both undergraduate and graduate levels.



Qualifications: The candidate should have a PhD degree, or equivalent, related to the fields of work science and/or human factors. The PhD degree must have been obtained not more than three years prior to the application deadline, but could be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. Good English language skills is required.



Assessment criteria: The initial assessment will be based on the degree to which the applicant possesses the required qualifications specified for the position. Great emphasis is placed on skills such as analytical- and problem-solving abilities, collaborative and collaboration skills, motivation, ability to communicate in English and ability to work independently. Good knowledge of Swedish language is a merit, but no requirement. In addition to documented qualifications, an overall assessment will be made of the suitability to carry out current tasks, to work for the utilization of the university's research and to contribute to a positive development of the business.
