In this project you will screen and analyze molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), or plastic antibodies, with affinity for glycospecific targets such as sialic acid (SA). Cell lines, primary cells and tissue will be used in a cell culture environment. Glycospecific MIPs developed by our partners will be analyzed by different cell-based methods including fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. You will also collaborate with the molecular imprinting team at the department and use the plastic antibodies for specific capture and detection. Your work will focus on the four sialylated target motifs SA/Neu5Ac, Neu5Gc, Tn and STnwith proven or putative diagnostic value.

The project will include secondments to the other Glycoimaging partners. The secondments will allow you to work with and oversee the implementation of the materials and to gain insight into academic and industrial work environments.
