hela Sverige AstraZeneca has an open position at the AstraZeneca Translational Science Centre at Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Stockholm, Sweden for an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) to pursue a PhD degree for a period of 48 months in Stockholm.
The project entitled Isotopics provides a unique opportunity for an ESR to carry out an exciting PhD research project in the field of radiochemistry with the purpose to label druglike molecules for subsequent use in molecular imaging.
Description
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a translational molecular imaging technique increasingly used in biomedical research and drug development. AstraZeneca has since 2006 a major research agreement with the Karolinska Institutet in PET imaging. The PET group at Karolinska Institutet is one of the leading research groups in the world in this area.
Isotopics aims to train the next generation of European chemists with expertise in isotopic labeling and advanced medicinal chemistry through a first-class taught and research training program combined with a highly interactive secondments plan; i) to develop innovative and general isotopic labeling chemistry and radiochemistry to streamline the synthesis of labeled small-molecule drugs and biologics; ii) to work closely with the European pharmaceutical industry to apply the new labeling methods to drugs currently in development in order to provide solutions to the most pressing problems in drug innovation.
We are looking for a motivated and skilled organic chemist that can help us take the next steps in the development of methods for the labeling of druglike molecules for PET imaging. We offer a first class education in collaboration with our colleagues at Karolinska Institutet as well as the other collaborators in the Isotopics network.
Qualifications
The applicants must have an undergraduate university degree, broad knowledge of organic chemistry and be proficient in written and spoken English.
