Job description
You will be working in a research project together with industrial partners in the Wingquist Laboratory VINN Excellence Centre.
The project focuses methods for product lifecycle management (PLM) architecture development and management. Effective PLM solutions are essential for carrying out virtual product realization. Their development is a long-term strategic endeavour, where commercial and unique company-specific solutions are combined. PLM develop needs to consider both the business drivers emanating from a product’s lifecycle and new technological opportunities. PLM architectures are, however, very complex and difficult to analyze. The aim of this project is to develop new methods for PLM architecture analysis, enabling analysis of business benefits, lifecycle costs and change impact. Specifically, modular, service-oriented PLM architectures that support development of platform-based product are considered.
You will be part of an international research environment for up to five years while you expand your knowledge of the field and write your doctoral thesis. This gives opportunities for many inspiring conversations, a lot of interesting work and some travel.
The position is limited to at most five years. Usually, a PhD student will spend about 80 percent of his or her time on graduate studies (1/4 graduate courses and 3/4 thesis project), and maximum 20 percent on undergraduate teaching.
Qualifications
The successful applicant should have a MSc degree with a background in Product Development, Production Engineering, or Software Engineering. Experience of business analysis and PLM system development is appreciated. Teamwork and presentation skills, as well as fluent English, are necessary requisites.
