The H2020-MSCA-ITN (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks) ImmerSAFE research project is recruiting three new PhD-students located in Västerås. This advertise is for one of these.
ImmerSAFE' main goal is to train multi-disciplinary experts, who will achieve an operational understanding of the core imaging technologies, the requirements set to them by the safety-critical applications and who are able to take into consideration the dimension of the human user in the design of such systems.
You will be employed by Embedded Systems (ES) at MDH. ES is the most research-intensive research environment at Mälardalen University and a national leader in embedded-systems research.
Position description
We are offering a PhD student position in the area of Dependability analysis in the contex of image-centric socio-technical systems, within the H2020-MSCA-ITN ImmerSAFE project.
As a PhD student, you will spend a minimum of 80% of your time on research studies. The rest will be spent on educational and/or administrative duties.
The project will be performed in the project "Immersive Visual Technologies for Safety-critical Applications" (ImmerSAFE), which is European project that will include 15 PhD-students in 5 countries (Finland, Croatia, Italy, Norway, and Sweden). In addition to post-graduate studies at MDH in Västerås, Sweden, the recruited PhD-student interact extensively with the 14 partners in the project and will do part of his/her research as secondments for up to three months at some of the partners premises.
Qualifications
Only those who are or have been admitted to third-cycle courses and study programmes at a higher education may be appointed to doctoral studentships. For futher information see Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 1993:100).
To qualify as a PhD student, you should have a master's level degree with a solid documented background in embedded systems, computer science or computer/software engineering. Moreover, background on image processing will be considered of relevance.
Mobility Rule: researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary [Sweden] for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date. Compulsory national service, short stays such as holidays, and time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention [1] are not taken into account.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.

Assessment Criteria
A selection will be made among qualified applicants on the basis of the ability to benefit from doctoral education. We will use the following assessment criteria:
• Analytical skills
• Documented subject knowledge of relevance to the area of research
• Other documented knowledge or experience that may be relevant to doctoral studies within ImmerSAFE.
• Communication skills and ability to work both individually and in teams with researchers from both academia and industry
The qualifications of the applicants will be evaluated on an overall basis.
