The Department of Economics conducts research and teaching in business studies and economics. We work primarily with the food value chain as well as with natural resources, environmental- and sustainability issues in focus. We are organized in four research groups: entrepreneurship and innovation, agri-business decision-making and behavior, agricultural and food economics, as well as on natural resource and environmental economics. Together with Lund University, and by commission from the Swedish Government, we also provide economic expertise in the fields of food, agriculture, fishing and rural development through the AgriFood Economics Center. The Department has around 65 faculty and staff, including around 17 PhD students.

The position will be placed within the research group decision-making and managerial behavior. We aim to provide impactful and original results of relevance to both the society and to businesses in the green sector. In this group, the successful candidate will work in a stimulating context with leading expertise and wide networks in experimental and choice analysis methods, behavioural decision-making, sustainability accounting and risk analysis applied in farmer, supply-chain and consumer-oriented research. The group consists of 7 members, including a PhD student, post-doctoral researcher, researchers, associate professors and a professor. The successful applicant will also further have ample opportunities for learning and socializing with other PhD students at the Department and as part of the post-graduate research school jointly with other departments.

Business studies with a focus on carbon planning
Subject: Economics, specialization Business Administration
Description:
The PhD student will be involved in a research project on economic management of farms towards greenhouse gas (GHG) emission goals. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in agricultural economics, psychology, management accounting, life cycle assessment and farm advisory services. The position will also be able to benefit from synergies with other Swedish- and EU-level projects in the group, including on GHG emission science-based targets and green nudging of farmers.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate is expected to carry out supervised research leading to a PhD thesis as well as taking PhD courses (90 ETC) in accordance with the program's regulation.

We are looking for applicants with one or more of the following qualifications:

• Relevant background and/or interest in some of the following: agricultural economics / farm-management / management accounting / sustainability reporting / advisory services / agri-business sustainability;
• Education or experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods;
• Interest in and knowledge of farm businesses and the agri-food sector in Sweden;
• Basic eligibility for third cycle education in Business Studies.

A person has basic eligibility for third cycle education if he or she has taken a second cycle qualification or has completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, including at least 60 higher education credits at second cycle education. Upper secondary school grades equivalent to English B/English 6 are a basic requirement.

We are looking for highly motivated applicants with team-skills and who also can work independently to move the PhD project forward. Good skills in Swedish for data collection and analysis as well as very good skills in English for research outputs are required. Personal characteristics will play a significant role in the recruitment process.
