Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is an independent non-profit foundation and centre for international service and scientific research. Our vision is a world where all patients and health professionals make wise therapeutic decisions in their use of medicines. Our mission is to support and promote patient safety through effective global pharmacovigilance practice.

UMC maintains and analyses the World Health Organization (WHO) database of suspected adverse drug reactions. The UMC Research team works to identify medicine-related problems (signals), which are investigated by staff or by external specialists with medical, pharmacological, and scientific expertise. The investigations are published in the SIGNAL document, which is distributed to the more than 120 member countries of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring.

Responsibilities
• SIGNAL document related work
o provide support to external medical or pharmacological experts
o assess series of individual case safety reports
o review and write signal texts to be included in the SIGNAL document
• Participate in projects to advance processes used in signal detection and assessment .

Minimum qualifications
• MSc degree in pharmacy or nursing (or BSc with work experience in pharmacovigilance)
• Experience of medical writing
• Excellent English skills (written and verbal)
Preferred qualifications
• Experience/training in pharmacovigilance, signal detection, medical terminologies, data or project management
• Experience of qualitative research methods

The position is full-time, starting with a six-month probationary period, and based at the Uppsala Monitoring Centre office in Uppsala, Sweden. The position requires an EU work permit.
