SmartTrust has many large high performing databases in customer production systems. Even if most of these are under customer production responsibility, SmartTrust has a structural responsibility to maximize performance and ease maintenance. This applicant will be responsible for defining and implementing deployment standards for the database configuration in customer systems, to optimize resource utilization, minimize errors and reduce maintenance efforts in the production environment of the SmartTrust systems installed at customers. An important part of this is the cooperation with the Database developers in SmartTrust R&D
Key responsibilities:
• Define and maintain database deployment standards
• Maintain the optimal database usage (best performance, minimal maintenance) in the SmartTrust applications together with the Oracle developers
• Support presales in dimensioning of customer systems
• Support presales in larger customer cases where special database considerations required (Redundancy, backup and recovery)
• Overall responsible how the database is used by the SmartTrust products
• Be updated on database news and introduce news when/where beneficial for SmartTrust.
• Judge between buying required features from the database vendor, other vendor or develop equivalents. This is an important choice is the case of expensive features.
The job requires:
• Master degree in computer science or equivalent
• Documented Oracle Training/skills
• Very good knowledge in managing a Oracle RDBMS , at least version 10 and 11
• Good skills in Sun Solaris and most used Linux dialects
• Good Knowledge in HA cluster concepts
• Good knowledge in systems supervision and maintenance including tools
• Interest in driving the improvements/maintenance of a fleet of databases at customer sites
• Fluent written and verbal English.
• Very good understanding in how underlying technologies, like disks, network bandwidth, CPU power impacts the database performance
• Having an strategic understanding for where the database market is moving and take actions based on that
o Inform/teach SmartTrust internals
o Take actions in study/evaluation of new technologies
