What you will be a part of
Surveillance provides efficient solutions for safety and security, for surveillance and decision support, and for threat detection and protection. The portfolio covers airborne, ground-based and naval radar, electronic warfare, combat systems and C4I solutions, and traffic management systems.
Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems is a business unit within Surveillance and is formed of around 1150 employees in Sweden, Germany and South Africa. EW Systems provides innovative systems and services that utilise the electromagnetic spectrum for protection, detection, location and monitoring. It also provides? tools for intelligence analysis of the information gathered.
Your role
The next generation EW system for Gripen E/F has electro-mechanical countermeasure dispensers for aircraft protection that are made up of a distributed network of software nodes and uses motors to control hatches and control arms. As this environment is subjected to strong vibration this thesis is intended to examine and find the most suitable control loop for controlling the motor. The vibrations are coming from all vibrations during operation from engines, wind and acceleration.
The mechanics has tolerances which are impossible to avoid. This results in a mechanical play and in conjunction with external forces that makes the control difficult.
The thesis work will include both the development of a working prototype and an evaluation comparing the current system.
Your skills and experience
This thesis initially adresses students who are at the finish of their Master of Science in Engineering.
Applicants need knowledge of C++ and the will to work close to hardware.
