About the organization:
Humble Smile Foundation is a global group of dental and development professionals who passionately promote oral health as an integral part of children's well-being. The Foundation provides oral health support to children without access to dental treatment. We are dedicated to providing vulnerable communities with the means and motivation to prevent oral diseases, conditions, and disabilities, especially child tooth decay, by developing, implementing, and sharing effective and sustainable models of oral health promotion.
Since its establishment in 2015, the Humble Smile Foundation has initiated and led 9 comprehensive projects in Latin America, Sub Saharan Africa, and East Asia, and supported many projects around the globe through provision of professional trainings and in-kind donations.
Humble Smile Foundation is a global group of dental and development professionals who passionately promote oral health as an integral part of children's well-being. The Foundation provides dental health support to children without access to dental treatment and provides vulnerable communities with the means and motivation to prevent oral diseases, conditions, and disabilities, especially child tooth decay, by developing, implementing, and sharing effective and sustainable models of oral health promotion.

Responsibilities:
In close collaboration with all Humble Smile officers, the MEAL Officer is responsible for leading monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning/research (MEAL) at HSF's headquarters in central Stockholm. The objective is to ensure effective evidence-based implementations of Humble Smile's global health projects as well as ensuring that learning is an integral part of HSF's mode of operandi leading to enhanced quality, accountability, management, and impact.
Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

A. Oral and General Health Promotion Programs
Use of expertise, leadership, and networking to ensure Humble Smile Foundation's global health projects are backed by research and based on evidence, to increase knowledge and facilitate decision-making by leading Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning:
a. In planning phase: needs assessments, surveys, concept papers and project plans, develop and/or update M&E tools, databases, and MEAL plans,
b. In implementation phase: conduct training, support staff in data collection, conduct data audits and analysis to ensure high quality data, showing targets versus actuals and an action plan, and monitor overall project implementation, provide guidance and recommendations to field staff and partners.
c. In end phase: Conduct project evaluations, track and ensure organized, comprehensive electronic filing of documented findings/analyses. Provide documentation and dissemination of key findings stemming from monitoring, assessment, and other learning activities to the team in a timely manner.
d. Suggest interventions and solutions to any programmatic and operational issues under the monitored and evaluated programs.

B. Accountability, Learning, and Capacity Building
Ensure that MEAL becomes an integral element of Humble Smile's project implementation leading to enhanced quality, accountability, management, and impact while applying expertise in public health to your work:
a. Update, develop, and improve training materials, such as training manuals and teaching aids, with regards to public (oral) health and M&E.
b. Facilitate capacity building for team members on skills and knowledge related to M&E, accountability, and learning. Relevant topics may include but are not limited to, monitoring, evaluations, data collection, accountability, lessons learnt, health topics, internal and external communication, and more.
c. Conduct field visits to intervention areas, where possible ad needed, to provide training, technical assistance, and support, as well as to ensure that accountability and learning tools and strategies are understood and being implemented effectively.

C. Marketing & Communications
Contribute to the growth and publicity of Humble Smile Foundation globally by supporting the Creative & Communications Officer:
a. Provide support in (new) social media platforms, newsletters, blogs, journalism, external communications, and initiate M&C ideas based on current (social) media trends.
b. Translate research data and stories from the field into attractive communication materials.

D. Grant Applications
Contribute to grant applications and reports of Humble Smile's projects.
a. Ensure that MEAL is an integral part of the program design stage and features in all proposal development.
b. Search for research funding opportunities and apply for research proposals.
c. Suggest creative ideas for project marketing and communications in project proposals.

E. Reporting and other tasks
Reporting and administrative duties can include:
a. Report your work to Operations & Development Officer and Executive Director on a quarterly basis.
b. Contribute to donor project reports based on (donor) reporting guidelines.
c. Other duties and responsibilities as required by management.

Skills & Qualifications:
• Post graduate level degree in international development, public health, or any other related field.
• Two to five years of work experience.
• Experience in and passion for conducting quantitative and qualitative research.
• Demonstrated experience in overseeing project planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
• Proven knowledge in public health, preferably in public oral health.
• A sound understanding of social media is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English. Other languages are an asset.
• Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and a proven ability to prioritize and effectively multi-task.
• Ability to identify (potential) risks evolving and communicate this to different team members effectively.
