As Hydraulic Design and R&D Engineer at Metso in Sala you work primarily with hydraulic design of centrifugal slurry pumps, through the entire process of out lining hydraulic surfaces for Impellers and volutes to a specific duty point and specific speed, verification by clear water performance testing and field testing of wear characteristics which is tested locally at Metso Sala.
Involvements in hydraulic relations to wear of elastomer and metallic materials and simulations of the same, together with other internal specialists.
In this role you have the responsibility for any hydraulic analysis/changes and new designs required for new for both legacy and new developed pumps.
You will work closely with both local and domestic engineers, customers, QA and other supply chain functions for deviation approval and supplier feedback requiring design updates.
You will be reporting directly to the Technical Director of Pump Technologies.
Work location is Sala, Västmanland
Who you are
You have a Masters or Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering.
Preferably, you might have additional courses or education within Hydraulic design of centrifugal pumps, and if you have experience in designing centrifugal pumps it's a big advantage.
Experience of computerized fluid dynamics software preferably Fluent or ANSYS.
Some experience of 3D CAD modeling tools, preferably Inventor, and creation of 3D-models.
Experience centrifugal solids handling/slurry pumps and/or "tribology", wear characteristics of elastomer and/or metal materials is meriting.
You have a good sense of order and a good sense for details.
You must be flexible and available to interact with whichever counterpart as required,
and be capable of effectively and accurately working on several projects at one time.
Travel (both domestic and international) may sometimes be required.
Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
