Volvo Construction Equipment AB Component Division has the responsibility for development and manufacturing of driveline components to Volvo’s construction equipment. Development of electronic systems is also a part of the responsibility. Component Division has app. 1 200 employees. The business is located to Eskilstuna, but manufacturing is also performed in co-operation with other companies in different places.
The department Drive train control is a part of Electronic system development at the Component Division and we are responsible for development of control functions for drive train applications. We work with the complete development cycle from requirement to implementation and test. Our applications are gear shift control and gear shift strategy for power shift transmissions, brake control, brake blending and traction control. A new and very fast growing area is technologies for hybrid power train applications.
Job description:
You will work with functional development of control algorithms and SW for the drive train for heavy vehicles such as wheel loaders, articulated haulers, motor graders and trucks. The work is based on close cooperation with our customers and is carried out in cross functional projects with representation from both electronic system and mechanical design.
Today most of the drive train functions are written in C and integrated in our common soft ware platform. We also work with Matlab/Simulink for rapid prototyping and code generation for the embedded system. At the moment we are introducing a new state of the art tool for model based design and requirement management.
Test and verification of the SW components are carried out in our dynamic SIL environment with Matlab/Simulink before they are integrated and tested in the complete system. We also carry out a lot of testing in complete machine. You must be able to drive and handle the machines to be able to get full understanding of the application. If you don’t have earlier experience of construction machines you will be able to get this training on the job.
