Materials engineer to the Additive Manufacturing Tec-team to join us at Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB, in Finspång

The Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique opens up new opportunities for concepts of hot gas turbine components. Do you want to be a part of developing the next generation of tailored AM alloys and bring them into real components?

Siemens keeps investing in additive manufacturing (AM) as a mean to further strengthen the competitiveness of its power generation product lines. The AM technique enables brand new ways to design components with improved functionality, prolonged lifetimes and shortened manufacturing lead time. This requires new alloy development, AM process and quality assurance development as well as new engineering skills for design and simulation of parts, heat transfer and lifing calculations.

PG PR has recently launched a dedicated AM organization in order to assure rapid implementation of the new technologies and will now strengthen capacity further.

The AM TEC-teams responsibilities:

• Develop processes for standard and tailored materials incl. material data acquisition and process specifications, incl. standards for development of a process
• Develop AM core processes & Material Data Generation
• Develop monitoring strategies for those processes
• Develop process and machine transferability logic, process repeatability/robustness and process adoption to component requirements
• Develop and validate powder recycling & test techniques
• Outline post-processing chain and development relevant technology of relevance to AM materials (heat treatment, machining, surface treatments, NDT, etc.)

Your tasks?

• Be part in the front line of development of new advanced processes in additive manufacturing
• Develop tailored alloys for additive manufacturing
• Develop material and inspection specifications for robust process control
• Follow qualification of new alloys and components from idea through material property generation to fleet implementation
• Metallurgical examinations in the materials lab
• Cooperate within similar projects on global base in our PG/PS network as well as with external research partners
• Work as materials expert in AM component development projects for both new components (R&D) and repair of components (Service R&D)

Your profile?

• Minimum M.Sc. degree or relevant experience from material sciences
• Strong analytical skills and quality focus
• Good communication skills and good at taking own initiatives
• An innovative and solution oriented mindset
• Experience from mechanical testing
• Experience from working in the AM field is a merit
• Openness to closely collaborate with colleagues from different sites, divisions, disciplines and components including some travels per year.
