Materials Engineer Additive Manufacturing

Join us on our journey #SiemensEnergy

Siemens Energy's 91,000 employees around the world are passionately pursuing one common goal: to energize society with affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy systems.

Join our great team and put your energy to use.

The Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique opens new opportunities for concepts of hot gas turbine components. Do you want to be a part of developing the next generation of tailored AM alloys and bring them into real components?

Siemens Energy keeps investing in additive manufacturing (AM) as a mean to further strengthen the competitiveness of its power generation products. The AM technique enables brand new ways to design components with improved functionality, prolonged lifetimes, and shortened manufacturing lead time. This requires new alloy development, AM process and quality assurance development as well as new engineering skills for design and simulation of parts, heat transfer and lifing calculations.

The AM material engineering teams responsibilities:
* Develop processes for standard and tailored materials, primarily Nickel based Superalloys.
* Develop AM core processes & Material Data Generation.
* Develop quality assurance monitoring strategies for those processes.
* Develop process and machine transferability logic, process repeatability/robustness and process adoption to component requirements.
* Develop and validate powder management & test techniques.
* Outline post-processing chain and development relevant technology of relevance to AM materials (heat treatment, machining, surface treatments, NDT, etc.)
The challenge

* Be part in the front line of development of new advanced processes in additive manufacturing.
* Develop tailored alloys for additive manufacturing.
* Develop material and inspection specifications for robust process control.
* Follow qualification of new alloys and components from idea through material propertygeneration to fleet implementation.
* Cooperate within similar projects on global base in our Siemens Energy network as well as with external research partners.

Who are you?
* Minimum M.Sc. degree or relevant experience from material sciences.
* Strong analytical skills and quality focus.
* Experience from working in the AM field with process development, testing or quality assurance.
* Good communication skills (in English) and good at taking own initiatives.
* An innovative and solution-oriented mindset.
* Openness to closely collaborate with colleagues from different Siemens Energy sites and collaboration partners, including some travels per year.
