We are looking for a Material Engineer with a metallurgy focus for an assignment as a consultant at GKN Aerospace. The assignments demand that you can take on the responsibility of the whole chain of tasks to perform a complete technical material laboratory investigation e.g. sample preparation, measuring and evaluation of the results according to specified customer requirements.
Documentation of all steps will be accounted in a technical report. A larger investigation e.g. failure analysis or problem solving could require responsibility and ability to coordinate the job performed of several persons deliveries at the right quality level in time.
The client GKN Aerospace is the aerospace operation of GKN plc, serving a global customer base and operating in North America and Europe. With sales of £2.2 billion in 2013, the business is focused around three major product areas - aero structures, engine products and transparencies, plus a number of specialist products - electro-thermal ice protection, fuel and flotation systems, and bullet resistant glass. The business has significant participation on most major civil and military programs. GKN Aerospace is a major supplier of integrated composite structures offers one of the most comprehensive capabilities in high performance metallic's processing and is the world leading supplier of cockpit transparencies and passenger cabin windows.
Placement: Trollhättan, 45 minutes commute from Göteborg Central station

Qualifications
Experience from laboratory environment including the standard used equipment
• Communication skills in English, spoken as well as written
• Technical knowledge of GKN Aerospace products
• Knowledge of SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and EDS (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy) is very valued
• You are skilled user in Microsoft Office.
Meritorious experience
• Bachelor of Science within Materials Engineering or similar
• Hands-on experience from production - casting, welding, heat treatment, iron work and machining
• Non-destructive testing
• Knowledge of Swedish is considered favorable
• Experience in SAP R3 and TeamSite
• Digital photo analysis and simulation
