Machine Learning has its foundation in fundamental mathematical theories and is proven in use since several decades. With increasing computational power in embedded devices and modern infrastructure in large computing clusters, the industry is entering a new era when it comes to advanced algorithms and the use of Artificial Intelligence in business applications. ÅF provides solutions to the industry which are based on, or enhanced by, machine learning for perception, decision making and analytics. Artificial Intelligence, with deep learning and neural networks as one example, holds many interesting areas for research and development.
This project is defined to analyze a specific problem, propose a solution using machine learning technology and evaluate the possible benefits with this.
Sub-goals
Literature study on the topic
Evaluation and selection of algorithm
Implementation and proof-of-concept and experimental evaluation
Scale up and launch in a target environment
Possible areas of research
We at ÅF Embedded Systems have a problem in mind for the thesis (not presented here), but we also welcome ideas from the candidates. ÅF has previously conducted several MSc Thesis' where further research might be eligible.
Who are you?
Bachelor MSc. (30 credits) in the Electronics / Computer / Mechatronics or equivalent.Students with an interest in computer science and embedded systems are welcome to apply. Areas of Expertise: Software development, scripting, mathematical & statistics, textual processing, data analytics, cloud technologies.
We prefer that the thesis is performed in groups of two. Place of work will be at the ÅF office in Gothenburg. Supervision is carried out by ÅF employee at the office in Gothenburg, in collaboration with the supervisor at the university. The starting date of work is flexible, but preferably around February 2018.
