Group IT ? DVP Solutions
DVP Solutions (?Develop Product & Aftermarket Product Portfolio?) is a global unit within Group IT. The mission of the unit is to ensure that the Volvo Group's IT solutions and IT projects within the area of DVP are managed in an optimal way.
This project will be handled within the Aftermarket Information Production team. Our main mission is to supply solutions for creating aftermarket information and apply directives on their usage.

Background of Thesis project
Volvo Group IT has many in-house developed IT systems supporting the Volvo Aftermarket. In several of these systems, product matching is performed on a daily basis with high frequency in order e.g. to select the correct version of software to download for a specific truck or to find the correct service and repair instruction for a specific truck.

Description of Thesis work
The main objective of this project is to optimize the product matching algorithm. You will work with a sandbox environment where the current product matching algorithm is the baseline. Using this baseline you are expected to analyze and investigate how the performance of the matching can be improved. You will implement different strategies you identify using relevant technologies and compare pros and cons. And you will have great freedom in proposing strategies and technologies for the project.

Your Background
The ideal student(-s) studies computer science at master level and will possess good communications skills in Swedish and/or English, show a high level of initiative, be self-driven, have good analytical capabilities and preferably have an interest in the automotive industry.
You have coding skills in Java or .Net, SQL and are interested in investigating different algorithm optimization methods.
