The Essity Global Hygiene Category (GHC) team is currently searching for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager. This role can be based out of our headquarters in Philadelphia, PA or Gothenburg, Sweden.
The Manufacturing Engineer Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and launch of new products, continuous improvement activities, and maintenance of the existing product assortment. The role will be an internal expert and key contact for internal/external stakeholders in the areas of design for manufacturing and assembly, injection mold tooling, and product manufacturing. This role will share design and technical knowledge, acting as an expert advisor to product developers internally as well as externally. This is a global position, which will interact with many stakeholders from various countries on a regular basis.
Main Tasks
Provide technical expertise during the product development process on design for Manufacture, Assembly, and Reliability and support the realization of the product design through manufacturing start-up and launch;
Actively manage the build and qualification of new injection mold tooling and assembly fixtures from design through qualification;
Support Global Sourcing to secure continuous production of Tork dispensers and accessories and to provide input to the global dispenser manufacturing and tool vendor strategies;
Work together with suppliers globally to develop appropriate design & processing guidelines, maintenance plans, and risk mitigation programs for Essity assets;
Build and maintain a competence in relevant technical areas to support the application of cutting edge manufacturing and production technologies to deliver world class dispenser function and appearance;
Identify and propose product and process improvement areas.
Key Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Plastics, or related technical field;
Seven plus (7+) years working with injection molding plastics and tooling in a product development and/or manufacturing environment;
Project management skills or previous experience using a structured stage gate development process;
Experience working in a continuous improvement environment or having exposure to quality management systems;
Experience working with international teams is a merit;
Fluent in English, both verbal and written;
The position requires knowledge in:
the design and manufacturing of injection molded plastic parts
the design, fabrication, and processing of injection mold tooling (knowledge in sheet metal forming, die casting, etc. is a plus)
3D CAD design and simulation packages (Solidworks and/or Moldflow experience is a plus);
The application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and understanding of tolerance stacks;
High volume manufacturing processes and assembly techniques;
Ability to travel 30% of time to domestic and international locations.
