The role of the Managing Director at EQT is to be a driving force for EQT's business lines and strategies further success, manage and execute complex acquisitions and transactions, manage and supervise existing portfolio companies, as well as drive internal initiatives.
Typical tasks and responsibilities for an EQT Managing Director:
In a managerial capacity, exercise broad discretionary authority over investment activities related to the EQT Funds.
Formulate, implement and endorse organizational strategies, business practices, policies and methods to achieve specified goals and maximise operational efficiency.
Originate investments in buy-out investments in companies with strong market positions and solid growth potential. Supervise the work of, and coach junior team members in this regard.
Direct deal flows for investment initiatives; perform due diligence; participate in deal teams in executing complex acquisitions; design and implement proprietary systems and procedures to improve and increase Fund efficiency; lead negotiations with regard to the acquisition itself and also the arrangement of debt / acquisition financing.
Supervise and coordinate portfolio acquisitions; formulate business plans to develop new fund opportunities and drive performance. Monitor high-level trends in these settings and direct actions accordingly.
Day to day management of work streams for investment professionals and reviewing their origination of new investments and management of client portfolios as well as some fundraising processes. Recommend and implement people actions such as recruiting, onboarding, training, promoting and approving related administrative actions for the respective professionals.
Oversee the preparation of reports and materials for the fund Investment Committee and fund Head(s)
Oversee junior colleagues and their development of economic models to evaluate financial performance; formulate investment objectives; monitor existing fund commitments and valuations.
Serve as an investment advisor on behalf of the Fund; represent the Fund on the supervisory board of portfolio companies; oversee, manage and direct the analysis and evaluation of targeted companies and sector trends. Sit on the Board of Directors for assigned portfolio companies and counsel their senior management in the capacity as board member
Maximize short and long-term financial results; achieve growth objectives within the established corporate framework and agreed strategic direction.
Develop and maintain business relationships with the banking and business community. Attend business meetings, conferences, and other events as a representative for EQT in this regard.
Similarly, develop and maintain EQT's network of executives and professional board members who serve as advisors and board members across the EQT platform
Represent EQT at external investor events, conferences and official occasions, in both in a networking capacity and as a speaker.
