Who are we in Product Strategy and Preparation department?
Product Strategy and Preparation is a team in Vehicle & European Manufacturing Engineering organization within GTO Quality & Engineering. We execute the Product Process development for Volvo products in Europe and actively support the same activity for Renault, Volvo North America, and Mack. This is done through close interaction both with GTT Engineering departments and with the GTO plants.
Main activities and responsibilities
You will lead a team being responsible for securing that cab trim and electrical product changes, for Volvo HD and common areas with Renault HD, are designed and verified according to Volvo Operational Concepts, and introduced in the Industrial System without disturbances and according to set improvement targets. It includes following responsibilities:
Lead the team of cab trim and electrical Technical preparation engineers (TPEs) located in Sweden and Belgium
Develop needed competences in the team
Secure that the cab trim and electrical TPEs drive clear manufacturing requirements for each cab trim and electrical product change so that the changes are introduced without disturbances and according to set improvement targets
Secure expected product manufacturing readiness along the development based on virtual and / or physical manufacturing verification
Establish seamless cooperation with the manufacturing engineering groups in the Heavy- Duty truck plants and technical preparation teams in other ranges
Establish seamless cooperation with cab and electrical department in Vehicle engineering Gothenburg
Lead the continuous improvement work in the team through a VPS approach
Secure necessary resource management activities to match the product project portfolio needs
It is also important to secure interfaces and WoW in an Agile context related to GTT Technology and Vehicle Streams and support the implementation and evolvement of Agile methods and WoW within the VEME organization.
Experience and competence
A key success factor will be your ability to build trust and secure cooperation both inside GTO as well as cross functionally with GTT and GTP. You are expected to be an inspiring and inclusive leader as well as an active team player. Change management is an important skill, with the ability to motivate and coach individuals to deliver outside their comfort zones. Both product and manufacturing experience is valuable, as well as understanding Lean production and Agile methods.
Proficiency in the English language is required.
