About us

Packaging Operations EMEA is located in the Inbound & Packaging Operations EMEA department as part of Volvo Cars Logistics organisation. The role Manager Packaging Operations EMEA reports to Director Inbound & Packaging Operations EMEA and is based in Gothenburg. Packaging Operations EMEA have 2 functional responsibilities. Globally they own the packaging process and regionally they are mandated to plan, distribute and secure availability of empty returnable packaging in a lean way. This includes volume planning, supplier communication, supplier education and close collaboration both cross functionally internally and externally towards direct material suppliers, plants and packaging terminals.

Packaging Operations EMEA is made up of a diverse background of 9 individuals who bring competence from both within Volvo Cars and externally to the team. The team is made up of approximately 60/40 male/female mix and work closely together to support each other in the resolution of daily challenges drawing from the different backgrounds and experiences.

The department is responsible to plan, secure availability and transport packaging to suppliers and other users of Volvo cars owned packaging at the right place, at the right time and to the right cost

The function Packaging Operation covers the strategy setting, planning and operational responsibility for all packaging issues in running production and related activities. The role also ensures the supply of packaging to the required destinations within EMEA. The packaging operation scope starts at packaging terminals and is a closed loop from packaging terminals to suppliers and manufacturing plants.

About the position

Manager Packaging Operations EMEA is required to:

* Set the strategy, planning and operational responsibility for all related Packaging Operations activities and ensure the supply of correct packaging.

* Ensure development and fulfillment of Volvo Cars priorities, target setting, and master plan activities and to meet scorecard targets (KPI) for the Packaging Operations organisation.

* Lead relevant and necessary activities and ensure timely and cost efficient packaging operations solutions considering cost efficient utilization of Volvo cars assets

* Support the development and implementation of the strategies and objectives of Volvo Cars within the department

* Ensure the required resources and competences for the department

* Act as lead for Container Management System

* Process development of all above

About you

You must have ability to see and understand where your role fits into the wider corporate objectives as well as having ability to make own decisions based on facts. You are self-driven and motivated by success but also team oriented. You have a university degree in logistics or relevant equivalent experience from a similar position. Your background is minimum of three years' leadership experience and you have strong English language skills. Customer service mindset with the ability to take difficult discussions as needed as well as ability to communicate from operator to executive level. You have experience of building and developing effective teams as well as target setting and KPI creation and follow up.

Meritous

Previous experience in working with returnable emballage flows in a manufacturing industry

Previous experience with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier

Six Sigma and Lean experience

This is a full time permanent position with start according to agreement.
