As a Machine Software Engineer you work with design and development of new products. The work involves system design, calculations, component choice, testing and documentation, validation and verification of prototypes and machines by function and field tests. Your task is to develop, together with the group, technology and practices in the areas the group is responsible for.
The job will involve many contacts with people both inside and outside URE, including international contacts. You are also involved in the group's contacts with other stakeholders such as other functions in the URE (Underground Rock Excavation), for example, sales companies, customers, suppliers and other AC units around the world.
Skills & Knowledge
• Basic education in mechanical engineering, i.e. Bachelor or Master or equivalent knowledge
• Experience from mobile machines, construction machinery and mining application is desirable
• It is preferred if you have experience from software development or electronic soft-/hardware design
• We expect you to be creative and analytic
• English both written and spoken and preferable also Swedish
Personal Requirements
You can quickly put yourself into new problems and you have an interest to interact with people and can easily motivate and take the lead with a creative and analytic mindset. With only some frames set for the mission you can work in a structured way to achieve results. You have to be prepared for travelling in this role.
To enjoy the work, it is important to have a genuine interest in technology and a desire to learn more about the application. Our work is conducted in large own freedom and responsibility. These tasks require a lot of contacts both internally and externally, good interpersonal and communications skills are required to do the job.

We are looking for a driven and motivated Machine Software Engineer to join our team and work in the Research and Development (R&D) department within Atlas Copco Underground Rock Excavation (URE).
A change in the construction of underground machines has started. Since 1873, Atlas Copco has developed innovative products and solutions for mining and tunneling industries. The development towards electrification and automation creates new challenges and new opportunities on how to build the machines and what characteristics we can provide the machines with to gain better performance. We are now looking for the right people to join us on this exciting journey!
Atlas Copco URE has a large program of machines used in tunneling and underground mining operation. The machines are operative all around the world, normally in very harsh environments with high demands on safety, reliability and productivity.
