We are now looking for a Machine Learning Engineer within ML Systems and Algorithms to our team in Kista.
The area of the position lies at the intersection of distributed systems and machine learning. A major expected outcome of the doctoral research is to provide system support for continuous deep analytics: a radical new approach for data analysis that builds on recent advances in large-scale machine learning and data stream processing to produce interpretable models of the world. The ML engineer position will focus on the design and implementation of algorithms for machine learning and analytics that combines historical and live, unbounded data.
This Continuous Deep Analytics group is a joint effort between Sweden's most prominent technical institutes, RISE and KTH to design and build a next-generation platform for data analysis and AI. The group's initiative is financed by a prestigious grant of 35mil sek from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF). Alongside individual work, the project aims to build a world-class team of senior and junior researchers as well as engineers in the intersection of programming systems, distributed computing and machine learning. The research group is led by Prof. Seif Haridi and has a long tradition of highly appraised alumni, research publications and widely used open source. Examples are Ali Ghodsi (current CEO of Databricks, Apache Spark and Mesos co-creator), Cosmin Arad (senior engineer on Google Compute Engine), Paris Carbone, Theodore Vasiloudis and Vasiliki Kalavri (Apache Flink Committers and PMC).

The position is initially set for one-year duration with a possible opportunity for extension. The accepted applicant is expected to lead the design of critical user-facing parts of Arcon, the analytics platform under development and contribute to the Machine Learning libraries that the platform will offer. Furthermore, as a core member of the Continuous Deep Analytics group, the accepted candidate will enjoy participating in regular internal and external activities such as research discussions, invited talks, hackathons, Stockholm meetups and conferences at world-class venues (e.g., VLDB, SIGMOD, NeurIPS and USENIX).
The position will be held at Isafjordsgatan 22 in Kista, Stockholm where the Computer Science Laboratory of RISE is located.
Who are you?
Applicants should hold a Master of Science degree or a degree in computer science, information technology or engineering with a relevant specialization such as machine learning, distributed systems or programming languages.
