The role, Logistics Engineer - Central Road Transport Control, is located within the Inbound Logistics organisation (IBL) and will report to the Manager Central & Local Transport Control. The role is operational with responsibility across a wide range of business areas within Volvo Cars and is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Responsibility
You act on transport deviations for road transports, organize crisis management when needed for road transports and Drive Carrier Management to improve operational performance. You will regularly interact with stakeholders within VOLVO CARS to address concerns or issues and report feedback regarding process improvements. This will involve travel to various sites in Sweden and Belgium as needed. The role provides input and feedback regarding Standard Road processes where improvement opportunities or issues are identified. You will monitor KPI's of appointed carriers/forwarders and carry out regular reviews.
The position provide out of hours support by standby duty as needed. This shared between 'Multi Modal Transport Planning and Control' and 'Road Transport Control' teams on rotation - approx. once per 12 calendar weeks per person.
Purpose of function
The purpose of the central function is to ensure inbound road transportation execution for production material to plants, warehouses and consolidation centres. This function is critical to manage the timely shipping and arrival of production material for 5 factories on a daily basis. We are mandated and have a commitment to deliver on time, on budget with a service mind-set.
About you
We are looking for a committed and inspired logistics engineer who is passionate about cars. The right candidate has ability to maintain composure whilst under pressure. The right candidate has strong presentation skills and risk aware rather than risk averse and is result-oriented and willing to take accountability. Thanks to your excellent communication skills you have the ability to create strong and trustful relationships and has excellent track record as a team player.
Your background is minimum of three years' experience in freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain and you have strong English language skills.
You have a Swedish residency.
This is a full time permanent position with start according to agreement.
