Viaplay Studios is Nordic Entertainment Group AB's (publ.) ("NENT") in-house production arm, which comprises production companies in the Nordic region and CEE.

Viaplay Studios also runs an in-house animation studio, using motion capture technology to create 3D animated top-quality content in the Kids- and Family segments.

As a Nordic company with a global perspective and clear values, we're looking for the best people to join us on our journey. If this sounds like a challenge you're interested in, we're now looking for a Legal Counsel to support Viaplay Studios' legal team with placement in Stockholm.

The position
You will be responsible for providing legal support for scripted productions within Viaplay Studios. You will also be working closely with the rest of the legal team within NENT Group where relevant, such as on intersecting issues, processes, and practice areas.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Draft and negotiate scripted contracts (e.g. rights acquisitions, development agreements, program production/co-production/commissioning agreements, distribution agreements and other financing agreements), support producers with agreements for directors, scriptwriters, actors, composers and other key staff, and other agreements related to scripted production
• Coordinate with the CEO, Head of Production, Finance and other key scripted stakeholders to align content rights (assets, license rights and limitations, IP protection etc), sublicensing/sales and pipeline opportunities to ensure back-to-back mitigation of risks and maximizing opportunities
• Confirm chain of title and handle clearance matters, guild/union issues, standards and practices review, and promotion and publicity issues
• Assist with corporate housekeeping and other legal matters as necessary
• Continuously identify ways to improve and develop working practices
• Build and develop business self-service structures through contract templates, checklists etc to enable business to manage basic or standardized legal matters
• Working closely with the business, advising on legal risk management and developing effective risk mitigation strategies

What we are looking for
• Swedish Master of Law Degree (Sw. jur kand)
• Experience (between 4 - 8 years) negotiating and drafting commercial agreements and advising on IP matters, preferably as an in-house counsel at a company in the media/entertainment industry and/or at a reputable business law firm specializing in intellectual property law
• It's considered extra merit if you have possessed a similar role with a studio, production company or broadcaster/streaming service and thus is familiar with the market landscape and corresponding terminology
• Fluent in Swedish and English
• Business and solution-oriented and great relationship builder, able to create trust for the legal department in the business, and to deliver pragmatic and actionable legal advice to people at all levels
