The Legal Team within the Global Retail team is responsible for enabling, guiding and protecting the H&M Group in relation to commercial property transactions and other commercial contracts that the Group enters into, in over 70 different markets! This role is based in H&M Group Head Office and supports all brands in developing and executing strategy through drafting, negotiating and reviewing various agreements that enable growth of our Group in the markets.
As Legal Counsel you will be responsible for understanding our commercial requirements and global legal standards and safeguarding these in our contracts. You collaborate with and guide local market counsels to achieve these standards in line with the strategy you help set for each region. You are their speaking partner at Head Office and act as the center of excellence when it comes to the way in which we work. You assist with education, training and conflict management when required.

Key Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory and Contract Managment:
Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the Portfolio Strategy and Finance team, offering insights on a diverse array of issues associated with international expansion.
Navigate regulatory landscapes and ensure compliance with international laws, regulations, and standards impacting the retail industry.
Develop, review, and negotiate a comprehensive range of commercial tenancy contracts essential for expansion initiatives, such as lease agreements, amendments, revenue sharing agreements etc.
Ensure that contractual arrangements entered on a market level align with the Groups' strategic objectives and legal requirements.
Providing strategic guidance to markets on aligning with landlords for optimal long-term asset planning.
Legal Operations and Corporate Governance:
Foster collaborative relationships with various departments, advise and support them and help set up ways of working where required to streamline contract negotiation and signing and enhance operational efficiency.
Ensure seamless integration of legal considerations into the broader expansion strategy through coaching and training market counsels and being their point of contact at Head Office
Contribute to the creation and enhancement of legal policies and procedures specific to the Sales unit, such as internal audits, setting up regions and reporting mechanisms.
Develop and maintain systems for managing legal documentation, contracts, and information.
Ensure correct representation of deals to the board or decision-makers.
Oversee the proper execution of documents, maintaining a keen eye for detail to ensure compliance with internal policies and legal standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement a legal AI tool globally.
Qualifications
Professional Competencies:
A degree in Law
5-10 of years of legal experience, preferably within real estate
General Competencies:
Exceptional communication skills, required for interactions with markets, Global Landlords and senior stakeholders.
Understanding of risk assessment and ability to articulate associated consequences to decision makers.
Proficiency in conflict resolution, especially in situations with conflicting interests.
Comfortable with decision-making, even in ambiguous circumstances and tight timelines.
Detail-oriented with the ability to undertake a thorough review of contracts and agreements.
Analytical skills for breaking down arguments or theories, conceptualizing ideas, and providing well-supported conclusions.
Prioritization skills to identify and focus on key goals and tasks.
Strategic thinking in defining effective long-term plans in line with the vision and strategy of the legal team.
Stakeholder management, fostering positive collaboration with internal and external parties.
Additional information
This is a full-time permanent contract placed in Stockholm, starting as soon as possible.
