Avalanche Studios Stockholm/New York is looking for a Lead UI Designer who will work on our upcoming AAA title Contraband - a co-op smuggler's paradise game set in the fictional world of 1970s Bayan. Contraband is a brand-new IP published by Xbox Game Studios.

You will work closely with the Product Owner and the Game Design team to design, improve and maintain all aspects of the UI based on the needs of the project. As the owner of the UI design, you will help guide the vision, run tests with user-research labs and in collaboration with UX designers, artists and programmers ultimately be responsible for our UI in the game. As a UI Designer, you focus your work on supporting the holistic player experience with the best UI possible and consider accessibility as a core factor in your work.

As a Lead, you are also responsible for leading and guiding the team with best practices, and support in transforming the Director and Product Owner's vision into the overall project plan. You help provide estimates and necessary information for planning and scheduling together with the team producer.

Required Qualifications

• Experience working as a Senior or Lead UI Designer in the games industry, and desire to lead and mentor a team of designers
• UI design experience on at least one published PC / console / mobile game
• Thorough knowledge of flow / function / form and UI progression
• Understanding of modern accessibility requirements
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative outlook

Desired qualifications

• Experience in A/B testing, analytics and live services
• Familiarity with Coherent UI
• Experience with wireframing/prototyping tools such as Sketch, Axure or Figma
• Photoshop skills
• UI/UX design qualifications or training
• A knowledge of open-world games
