The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of 9 divisions and is active in many areas of Laboratory Medicine. The department is involved in advanced basic scientific, clinical and epidemiological research. The department is one of the largest departments of education at Karolinska Institutet.



For our interdisciplinary and multi-national team, we are looking for a highly skilled and motivated lab manager.

Duties

- Assist when it is needed with laboratory experiments such as PCR, sequencing, DNA/RNA extractions, cloning, western blot, cell culture, FACS, cell sorting, animal work,
- Assist laboratory members with orders and distribution of general supplies and
- Keep lab reagents, equipment, cells/cell lines and patient samples well organized.
- Assist with applications and ethical
- Supervise and train new members.

General administrative support.

Entry requirements

The lab manager will organize and coordinate activities in the laboratory on a day-to-day basis. The work will range from supporting and training PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, to maintaining the lab, purchasing and organizing equipment and consumables, to implementing common and new molecular biology methods. Eligible applicants will have a PhD degree or equivalent and well-documented track record of relevance to the employment. Experience as project coordinator, postdoc or lab manager/coordinator and familiar with the Agresso system are advantages.

We expect you to be a positive, flexible person with good interpersonal communication skills, ability to cooperate and work in a very dynamic international team. You must both be able to work in a well-structured and efficient way. Your work requires accuracy and good documentation. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills in written and spoken Swedish and English. Personal skills will be highly valued.

Position-specific requirements:

- PhD or equivalent in relevant research areas (molecular biology, cellular biology, immunology, genetics, cancer biology, hematology)
- A strong background in molecular biology (BSc) in addition to good technical and experimental knowledge
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good Swedish and English language skills, both written and spoken, are a requisite.
