As a leading medical university, the Karolinska Institutet recognizes the urgent need to improve the preclinical oncology testing in order to better translate basic research into the clinic. The newly established preclinical cancer test facility (PCTF) offers state of the art genetically engineered as well as transplantation mouse models, combined with multimodal live imaging in order to predict the most efficient clinical therapies.
Area of responsibilities/duties
The applicant is expected to have extensive technical and hands on experience with optical live imaging (IVIS or BioSpace) of small animals. Knowledge of other imaging instruments e.g. micro-ultrasound (Vevo/VisualSonics), micro-CT, micro-PET or MRI is not a prerequisite, but certainly advantageous. The applicant is expected, in due course, to acquire knowledge related to the other imaging modalities present at the PCTF by attending respective courses.
The applicant should be experienced and certified in working with rodents and have experience in the various forms of drug administration
Qualifications
To qualify, the applicant should either hold a PhD degree in natural sciences, medicine, or a foreign equivalent, or have an education as lab technician/ engineer.
The applicant should have excellent communication skills and be fluent in both Swedish and English, since he/she is expected to act as a coordinator between the research groups, animal facilities and the PCTF, managing the analytical equipment in order to guarantee a ?seam-less? performance of animal experiments.
In connection with the appointment of Lab Manager, we will lay particular emphasis on practical and organisational skills, as well as social and interpersonal skills, power of initiative and personal suitability.
