The Science Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for two Lab Assistants (summer job) to the Detector Systems Services Section.

Description of group
The Detector Group within the Science Directorate has an active development and construction programme that is time critical for successful completion of the ESS project. The successful candidate will be a Lab Assistant position to be posted with our team at the Detector Group facilities in Lund.

Job description and responsibilities
The responsibilities include a range of varied tasks, some technical (including wiring, assembly, testing support), some hands-on work for the space setup as required, as well as helping with the administration of these facilities. There will be also a few scientific tasks. The candidate will work together with two neutron expert technicians, detector scientists and three mechanical engineers who need these facilities to construct several demonstrators and final detectors for half of the ESS instruments.

Qualifications
The position is best suited for someone working towards a degree in Physics, Science or Engineering who has an interest in both hardware as well as demonstrable technical skills. The ability to work independently and according to timetables is highly desirable. The working language will be English.

Duration & Location
The positions are fixed term positions of 10-12 weeks. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The positions are to be filled as soon as possible.
