A normal day at work:
As a Junior Patent Engineer, you will be part of the Swedish team based at the head office in Stockholm, consisting of 5 Patent Attorneys, 1 Patent Engineer, 4 Paralegals and 1 Patent Information Specialist. You will have the opportunity to work at the forefront with various technologies in an international environment. You will support patent attorneys in various activities such as: driving innovation, supporting our customers in IP-supported ideas, prosecuting patent applications, actively taking part in the freedom to conduct investigations, managing patent portfolios and providing general advice on IP issues to business leaders and developers. In order to continuously develop our IP function, you will also engage and contribute to various improvement projects.
To be successful, you have to be a team player, willing to learn and adapt. Accuracy and an eye for detail are important in this service and you need to be able to cope in an environment driven by deadlines,

What you will learn:
You will work under the supervision of the lawyers to create intellectual property rights, especially patent and design rights. You will also learn how to build patent portfolios by harvesting inventions and driving the process from invention to patent application. This includes conducting news and patent landscape searches, conducting patentability investigations, drafting patent applications, having contact with editors and inventors, reviewing claims and full draft patent applications, following up on decisions, and ensuring that all disclosures about inventions are handled. You will prosecute patent applications which involve reviewing search reports, identifying novelty and ingenuity, getting comments from inventors and proposing changes. You will also participate in the product development process by conducting freedom investigations. In addition, you will review our patent portfolios together with customers to ensure that our portfolios are in line with the strategy. In this way, you will also be involved in the development of IP strategy and financial follow-up of IP activities.
The service requires:
• Education: Master of Science or Bachelor's degree preferably related to data and/or computer science. Other areas may also be of interest.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Experience in project management, familiar with agile work concepts.
• Excellence in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experienced working with various Microsoft 365 tools, such as Teams, Project Planner, OneNote, Sharepoint, and so on.
• Excellent to work with data in Excel and Power BI.
• Comfortable to present to an audience
• Master English fluently, both in speech and writing
• Programming skills would be an advantage (e.g. Python, C++, Visual Basics)
• Flexible mindset - ready to change course and take on new challenges
