We have deployed our approach for some of the biggest media corporations in the world and cover all aspects of media content workflows from capture through production to multi-platform delivery across all media sectors. ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role of a developer involves taking descriptions of business processes and needs and turning them into well-implemented solutions using agile and customer centric methods.
After only a few weeks as a solution developer in Mediasmiths, you are likely to find yourself developing the connectors, user interface components and general glue code necessary to make systems within a major media company communicate in new and more effective ways.
In their first year working for the company you can expect to be working within project teams to design, develop, document and support the implementation of a number of significant business critical software projects, both large and small.
As your experience grows, you will also be expected to advise the client on improved working practices and technology strategies for the use of IT in media. Guiding clients on technical strategy will involve giving them independent and objective advice on what technology solutions best suit their needs.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
You must be able to show experience of developing solutions using at least some of the following key technologies and approaches:
• Java design, development and debugging
• Scripting languages ? from shell script through to Perl, Python or Ruby
• Linux, Mac OS X and Windows platforms using Eclipse-based development tooling
• Application defect detection, diagnosis and resolution
• Test driven development - unit and system testing, automated testing using for example JUnit, Jenkins and Maven
• Experience in a media technology environment is highly desirable, but not critical.

• Ability to quickly pick up and apply new knowledge and skills
• Ability to deliver under pressure with accuracy, to time and with good humour!
