We are looking for an CAE Engineer with a passion for aeroacoustics to join the Wind Noise team within R&D at our Personal Centre at Volvo Cars.

This is a great opportunity for a newly graduated Engineer or someone with a few years of experience to embark on their career in a company that fully appreciates the importance of customer experience, safety, and sustainability. The Wind Noise team is part of Personal Centre within Research & Development at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg. The Personal Centre supports the strategic direction of "Freedom to move in a Personal, Sustainable & Safe way" and we support all vehicle programs, in terms of customer and legal requirements regarding our attributes Driving Dynamics and Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH).

You will get the opportunity to be involved in all project phases, from advanced engineering to vehicle production start, and with field and quality issues, contributing with analysis and guidelines to improve our attributes in our cars. You will get a varying role where you work with both CAE simulations as well as with hands-on testing in our wind tunnel and external facilities. This is an opportunity for you to contribute to creating the world's most inspired and confident driving experience.

We can offer state-of-the-art equipment and test facilities and the opportunity to build an extensive network with other internal design areas, to suppliers, and to our development center in Shanghai.

What you'll do
The role is a mix between simulations and hands on testing, where you will support the delivery of Wind Noise attribute through a combination of CAE and wind tunnel testing. You will support the team to perform Greenhouse Wind Noise simulations and Full-Size Clay model testing during concept phase and Wind Tunnel testing during prototype verification phase.

You will process and analyze data from CAE and measurements to recommend necessary design changes to meet requirements. You will participate in the development of improved or new methods and model capability. Some of your responsibilities will be to build up models, run simulations and report the results to the stakeholders.

You and your skills
We see that you have a M.Sc. in mechanical engineering, technical acoustics, engineering physics or similar and that you have a good understanding of acoustics, aeroacoustics, or aerodynamics.

Your passion for -, and willingness to develop within CAE pre-processing tools (Exterior A-Class & Mechanical systems preparation), acoustic data acquisition basics and DSP (Digital Signal Processing) will make you successful in this role.

Previous experience with CFD commercial tools is considered as a plus. Beneficial is also academic projects and research in the field of aeroacoustics.

On a personal level, you are an outspoken and brave person known for your ability to synthesize data, transforming complex analysis into simple and effective recommendations. You are customer-focused and result-oriented with a sense of timing. You possess good interpersonal and communications skills, and you comfortably present and discuss results at different fora and levels. You are a team player with a sense of accountability, also comfortable working independently.
