We have an open position within IT Support Services in MySQL Helpdesk based in Uppsala, Sweden or USA (Boise, ID and Cupertino, CA)

Purpose/Job Summary:
You will be responsible for the desktop support and helpdesk activities for MySQL worldwide. To excel in this position you will need to master Microsoft technologies such as Windows XP and Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Also experience with Apple Mac OS X and Entourage as well as OpenOffice, Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox are necessary. This role will reports to the Desktop Support Lead.

Key goals;

• Providing IT support to the 400+ internal customers of MySQL worldwide.
• Execution of procurement procedures for new equipment, software and hardware.
• Automating the helpdesk support processes.
• Supporting the MySQL local office (base of work).
• Travel to MySQL meetings to provide support and facilitate automation of the IT support.

Responsibilities:
Personal skills and abilities;

• Knowledgeable in the MS Windows and Apple OS X desktop platforms.
• Knowledgeable in the MS Office package.
• Familiarity with Linux (Samba, CUPS, DHCP, DNS) is preferred.
• Involves close communication with the IT team worldwide.
• Strong sense of detail for fixed asset record keeping.
• Customer service minded, helpful, and keen on learning new technologies.
• Experience with networked printers, copiers, scanners and fax machines.
• Must be flexible to work odd hours to collaborate with the rest of the IT team.
• Very proficient in spoken and written English.
• This role requires personal effectiveness and outstanding organizational skills.
• Reaching out to peers in the team for both consultancy and reporting.
• Willing to work off hours if necessary.

Example of daily tasks:

• Reading and answering emails.
• Answering the help desk phone.
• Writing weekly reports to helpdesk support lead.
• Responsible for IT assets and records in local office. This includes: ordering, configuring assets and distributing these to MySQL employees.
• Solving and following up with trouble tickets
Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of desktop support/helpdesk experience
• Experience with backup solutions
• Experience with configuring network printers
• Experience with configuration of mobile phones
• Experience procuring IT equipment

Education:

• Prefer B.S. with a technical emphasis

Required papers

• Valid passport and papers for travel to all countries
