C More, Telia TV, TV4 Play and MTV are some of the greatest streaming services on the Nordic market and our content is as good as it gets. To enable our users to consume our great content in the best way possible, we continue to invest in our playback experience and are now looking to expand our in-house player development team (currently a team of seven). We are looking for two (Sr/Jr) developers with a passion for video with the ambition of bringing the best online video experience there is to our users.
What about us?
We're looking for new colleagues for the player development team that owns the video players (for Web, Chromecast, Android/Android TV) and iOS/tvOS) used by all our services. The team is passionate about building an engaging playback experience to match our engaging content. The players are one of our key technology components, and we are proud to be able to both deliver excellent streaming quality (few failed starts, few interrupted streams, and low levels of buffering) as well as neat features like intuitive scrubbing and switching channel/episode/event/clip from within the player.
Every day we are innovating to enhance our customer experience for those who want to enjoy movies, series or sports events on our services. As an engineer on the team you will work closely with Product management, other colleagues within the Streaming Technology group and our client development teams to develop and improve the playback experience. Build SDKs to support player features and integrate and analyze video playback analytics to continually optimize performance.
What about you?
We believe you are developer with a passion for video. Together with your future team mates, you will be responsible for building our players and delivering our playback experience. We try to build them as a team, so if you're strong in JavaScript but want to learn Kotlin - that opportunity is there for you. The most important part is that you have experience from and/or is passionate about video and content. Besides developing our player's rich feature set this role includes responsibility for quality of service, continuous integration workflows, structures, and deliveries to all services.
You know the meaning of abbreviations such as DASH, HLS, DRM, SVOD, AVOD, ABR, CAF, SSAI, DAI
You have experience from one of our platforms and corresponding languages/frameworks (Web/TypeScript/React, Chromecast/TypeScript, iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin).
You have experience from working with video players. We work with Shaka, hls.js, CAF, ExoPlayer and AVPlayer - but if you know any other, then that's just great.
